Mitsubishi Carbide supply machine tools to industrial and manufacturing companies worldwide. As part of a new initiative the machine tools are being dispensed through vending terminals. Counter Solutions have provided the infrastructure to administer the stock control and issue of the machine tools and more importantly provide the information required for invoicing the Mitsubishi customers on a monthly basis. Counter Solutions have provided their web based cashless card CSSmartSuite software together with readers for the vending terminals, this solution enables Mitsubishi to provide the solution to their customers any where in the world.

The Rose Theatre in Kingston opens its doors to the public for their first production in January 2008. Counter Solutions have been selected to provide Epos and EFT for the three bars within this ultra modern setting. Theatre attendees will have the facility to pre order and pay for drinks ready for collection during the interval. Counter Solutions were successful in obtaining this business owing to the functionality of the system which has proven success in similar theatre operations.

Following the successful implementation of CSSmartSuite across the IBM estate in the UK (22 sites), IBM again chose Counter Solutions to install a cashless system in their Pinehurst site in Farnborough. The Flexibility of CSSmartSuite enables a new site to be easily incorporated into the centrally managed system. The site goes live in December 2007.

Linklaters approached Counter Solutions in the summer 2007 to implement a Salary Sacrifice scheme into their current system. The flexibility of the Counter Solutions cashless platform meant that the installation of the Salary Sacrifice functionality could be made without any additional hardware and was able to go live without interruption to their operation.

Following the successful implementation of two sites in Edinburgh AEGON, one of the worlds largest life insurance and pension companies have recently placed orders for their site based at Lytham. This additional site will be administered by ARAMARK from Edinburgh, managing products pricing and reports from the central location. Lytham will follow the two Edinburgh sites offering credit and debit card loading along with salary sacrifice. The salary sacrifice scheme was implemented at the two Edinburgh sites in April 2007 and has proved to be popular amongst employees whilst at the same time significantly increasing catering turnover and the commitment to the cashless operation.

Having piloted the Counter Solutions web loading facility, Warwick University chose to open this up to the entire student population at the beginning of 2007. This method of transferring funds to the cashless card, not only provides flexibility to the students, but also enables parents and guardians to transfer funds independently to the students’ cards with full control of what these funds are being spent on. This has proved particularly popular with parents who live overseas and is additional valuable revenue stream to the University.

From November employees at Lehman Brothers have been able to take advantage of salary sacrifice for employee feeding. A thorough implementation process ensured a smooth implementation of the scheme offering benefits to employees and the company. More than 2000 employees have elected into the program. For the new building at South Quays Lehman Brothers will also implement CSSMARTLOAD. Funds will be loaded over the internet by cardholders and then be used to purchase food and beverage at any of the CS500 PoS terminals or online vending machines. Along with Lehman Brothers IT a unique single-sign-on has been developed to enable employees seamless access to CSSMARTLOAD after accessing the corporate intranet.

Schroders have used CardWise and OutletWise for more than four years to manage their catering offer. They were one of the first businesses to offer Salary Sacrifice as a benefit for employees. A recent change in caterer and refurbishment of the restaurant led to a re-assessment of the requirements of the cashless catering solution. CSSmartSuite was selected because of the many benefits it will provide Schroders. As a hosted solution most local IT requirements are removed. New reconciliation routines and trading statements offer more effective management control.

Following the implementation of Epos at seven Cancer Research sites in the South of England Cancer Research have begun to implement a cashless catering and vending solution with Counter Solutions and caterers - Lexington Catering. Both the cashless and Epos applications are centrally managed by Lexington Catering. Employees are using a Mifare card for access control and have begun to use the same card to spend values on catering and vending transactions. The first four cashless sites have gone live the other sites will go live over the next couple of months. Values are loaded to the card using credit and debit cards.

Financial institution AEGON have gone live with a second site in Edinburgh replacing the previous G2 cashless payment system. Cardholders from both sites can use their integrated access control and catering card at both sites loading values from debit & credit cards along with notes and coins. AEGON have also confirmed a Salary Sacrifice project to go-live in April 2007 this will allow employees to sacrifice values direct from payroll giving them an effective 40% discount at the point of sale and AEGON will reduce their payroll by over 12% on all values sacrificed within the scheme. Previous installations have seen annual payroll savings of over £90,000 using salary sacrifice.

BOA has rolled out their third site with Counter Solutions. The new catering provisions at Croydon provided by Restaurant Associates were launched with cashless facilities. Employees have the ability to move between sites and spend in any of the cashless catering outlets by using the single security/catering card provided with Mifare card technology. The system has a centrally controlled database; the additional site was simply added to the main database in order to provide a cashless solution at Croydon.

York University have used the Counter Solutions Epos and Stock applications for over nine years with various software and hardware upgrades along the way. Recent changes to the Accommodation Services offer for students in respect of catering has seen the implementation of the Counter Solutions CardWise application and the provision of a smart card for each student allowing them pre configured values to spend around the University campus. The system went live in September 2006 and has met with great success, giving students greater flexibility whilst allowing complete control for the catering team.

After a year long tender process GlaxoSmithKline have selected Counter Solutions for their cashless operation within their research and development locations. This implementation covers 8 sites including Stevenage, Harlow, Greenford and Beckenham.

The solution provided by Counter Solutions will be managed by their caterers, Baxter Storey providing the ability for cardholders to move between sites using the cashless card at each location.

Counter Solutions will supply a Mifare multi application smart card this will allow GSK to deploy a single card which is used both in the restaurants and as an access control card for their security system.

Following a lengthy tender process Counter Solutions were chosen because of the diverse product offering and the ability to support the large multi site operation. IBM will be moving to a centrally managed EPOS and Cashless system, with the introduction of Chip and Pin EFT loading at the Customer Service Point and a Salary Sacrifice scheme. HVB Group, the second largest private commercial bank group in Germany, are moving to new offices at Moorhouse, London EC2. Working closely with HVB Catering Services Counter Solutions were selected to provide an effective cashless solution which also met the aesthetic requirements of such a prestigious development.

Have recently issued a 16k HID I Class Smart Card to all students and staff to manage their access control, photocopying and printing along with all catering services.

Counter Solutions have been selected to deliver replacement CS500 EPoS terminals with a built in HID I Class reader across the campus to manage the cashless catering requirements. A Customer Service Point with Chip&PIN credit and debit card loading facilities will be installed in February. This second phase will also see the installation of new smart card readers for photocopying and printing and the introduction of the Counter Solutions web loading application – CSSMARTLOAD.NET

February will be a busy month, with the additional site at Aintree being installed & will include the CS500 point of sale device and a customer service point with chip & pin debit and credit card loading. This new site will also use the existing back office databases currently used at the Ormskirk site via a wide area network thus eliminating the need for extra databases and additional training and implementation costs.

Have introduced a smart card pilot in the retail locations. Counter Solutions have installed Smart Card Readers communicating over the existing campus network in existing sales locations to allow students to spend from the University SmartCard not only in the current catering outlets but potentially any of the retail trading locations on the university campus.

The Group offer employees and visitors excellent catering and vending services in the UK from two locations, Buckingham Palace Road in London and the Cambridge Technology Centre and Counter Solutions have installed a cashless solution in both locations.

This installation went live in Q4 2005 just 6 weeks from the formal go ahead, CS Project Manager Toby Aldous recalls “This was a multi site project with over 4000 card holders using the system. The CS team, along with Baxter Storey and PA Consulting worked tirelessly to ensure a quick and successful implementation”

During 2006 this phased implementation will be further enhanced by the implementation of debit and credit loading in February as well as the ability for cardholders to load funds over the internet.

Cardholders can use their Mifare security card to purchase food and beverage at either of the two sites allowing complete flexibility for staff who travel between the sites. The catering contractor, Baxter Storey, required the ability to take funds from a card using a handheld mobile smartcard device. This device would give them the ability to generate additional revenue by allowing the catering staff to sell products in remote locations e.g. trolley service & outdoor events.

Counter Solutions installed a Thyron handheld terminal providing the ability to read both contactless Mifare and contact memory chip technology. This device also enables either a value or a PLU (Price Look Up) to be keyed in by the sales assistant and provide a fast and efficient cashless transaction.

The feedback from Baxter Storey has been positive.

In conjunction with Lexington Catering and Coffeepoint Vending have chosen Counter Solutions to install a company wide cashless payment system covering five sites. Cancer Research has recently introduced a new access control system within these sites using a contactless Mifare card. This same card will be used by employees and visitors to purchase food and drink from each of the many catering outlets and vending machines.

The Counter Solutions CS500 was chosen to manage the point of sale areas with each site installing a customer service point with chip & pin credit and debit card facilities.

When moving into new premises at 10 Queen Street Place S J Berwin wanted to compliment the new catering offer - provided by Charlton House Catering Services - with an innovative and effective cashless system. Counter Solutions were selected to implement the solution including five CS500 touch screen EPoS, Chip & PIN accredited credit and debit card loading devices, visitor card dispenser and refund machines and networked vending machines.

Based on HID i-Class technology the S J Berwin staff card integrates catering purchases with access control. Up to 800 employees can choose to purchase meals from a menu selection with an allowance automatically credited to their card. Validity of the allowance between differing service times is automatically managed providing choice for the cardholders with the appropriate management control. The ground floor coffee bar accepts both cash and cashless payments from S J Berwin employees, visitors and other tenants.

S J Berwin and Charlton House foresee other uses and benefits of the system to include charging to employee accounts, management of hospitality and free issues, unmanned vending services, and enhanced use of the consolidated data provided by Counter Solutions market leading cashless catering system.
