Smart POS Reader (SPR)

Functional Overview

The SPR is designed for connection to either a POS terminal running the Counter Solutions cashless POS software or a third party POS application.

The SPR is connected to the POS terminal using a USB cable and also requires a separate power supply.

It may be connected to the internet using an Ethernet network cable to allow SmartSuite to report on its transactions.

It allows transactions that are done on the POS terminal to be quickly and easily paid using a Counter Solutions cashless card.

The SPR is designed to allow a transaction to be paid off by simply touching the card onto the pad on the front of the reader. Instructions of when to do this and when the payment is complete are displayed graphically on the large colour display.

The payment for the POS transaction is made as soon as the card is touched on the SPR.

Whenever a payment is made on the SPR, the current card balance, the amount being paid and the ending card balance is displayed.

When using the Counter Solutions cashless POS software, the SPR displays each item in the sales transaction as it is entered, replacing the need for a customer display.

When a sales shift is not open on the POS terminal the SPR display is switched off to save power.
